The NexStar Evolution 8 203mm Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope from Celestron is a powerful, portable, versatile, and user-friendly telescope that can be used for observing everything from the Moon and planets to deep-sky objects like galaxies and nebulae. Using Celestron's proprietary StarBright XLT multi-coating system, light transmission is increased throughout the entire optical path with anti-reflection multi-coated lenses, highly reflective multi-coated mirrors, and four-element rare-earth glass. While the focal ratio is a slow f/10, the scope's precision tracking system allows it to be a competent astrophotography/astroimaging platform for the Moon and planets.The Evolution comes with two ways to use and control it. The first is to simply download Celestron's free Navigator app for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. The scope's WiFi provides the connection to the app and expands the capabilities and functionality, including an expanded database of over 120,000 objects with detailed information on more than 200 of those objects. Second is the iconic 2-line 16-character NexStar computer controller. This is a wired piece of hardware with a database of over 40,000 celestial objects plus several astronomical catalogs including the Messier and Caldwell.
Whether using the controller or mobile device, the system can assist in properly aligning the scope, provide tours of the objects and events visible whenever and wherever you're viewing, and allow for manual direction and slew control.Designed for portability, the Evolution features a long-life lithium-iron phosphate battery providing up to 10 hours of continual use on a single charge. The scope comes with an AC power supply with plugs for the US, EU, UK, and AU outlets. The battery powers the servo motors, auxiliary accessory ports, a USB charging port, and the built-in WiFi. Manual clutches in both altitude and azimuth enable you to manually move and point the telescope when it's powered off. Celestron put together this 1.25' Eyepiece and Filter Kit to give users essential accessories for planetary observation. This kit includes five Plossl eyepieces that provide a wide range of magnifications on any given telescope, six of the most popular colored planetary filters to enhance the views, a Moon filter that reduces glare from the lunar surface while enhancing contrast, and a 2x Barlow lens which essentially doubles the magnification of any eyepiece used with it.

8mm produces a high magnification, but with a slightly longer eye relief than the 6mm. 13mm produces a comfortable mid-range magnification. 17mm offers a higher magnification potential than the 32mm without sacrificing brightness.
32mm has the lowest magnification potential with the longest eye relief and highest light transmittance. The Celestron Lens Shade/Dew Cap is a tube of approximately the same diameter as your telescope tube which reduces the amount of dew that builds up on the corrector plate.
It also serves as a lens shade, preventing stray light from falling upon the corrector plate and thus greatly improves contrast.This shade is manufactured of rugged, soft Foamex plastic. It can be stowed away flat after usage. Celestron employs a thicker material that won't crack as easily as other manufacturer's efforts, with sewing instead of inexpensive glue for a longer service life.

High Point 32 mm Plossl 1.25” EyepieceIn this Celestron NexStar Eyepiece Kits, we are including a High Point 32 mm Plossl 1.25” Eyepiece. Together with the 25 mm & 9 mm eyepieces included with the NexStar SLT telescope, and a 2X Barlow lens that is also included in this bundle (more on that below!) you will have a total of six different magnifications to choose from!The HP 32mm Plossl eyepiece has a chrome barrel that is threaded for 1.25” filters, and will give you low to medium power, high contrast views due to its fully multi-coated lens surfaces and their blackened edges to keep stray light from lowering contrast.

Eye relief is an important consideration when choosing an eyepiece, and we are happy to report that the High Point 32 mm Plossl is bestowed with a generous amount. With 20 mm of eye relief, this full-sized 32mm eyepiece is easy to look through, whether you wear glasses while observing or not.
High Point 2X Barlow LensAs we alluded to just a few minutes ago, a 2X Barlow lens is a great accessory to have in your telescope kit! Because all you have to do to get twice the magnification of any given eyepiece is slip it into the barrel of a 2X Barlow Lens and place both components in your focuser or diagonal. In the Barlow, a 32 mm eyepiece magnifies like a 16 mm eyepiece, or to put it another way, an eyepiece that gives you 100X magnification will now yield images at 200X. The more eyepieces you have, the more economical a Barlow becomes. Three eyepieces and a Barlow, which is what you will have if you buy this accessory bundle for your Celestron NexStar SLT telescope, will give you six different magnification choices. Add another eyepiece to the mix and now you have eight choices.you get my drift! The High Point 2X Barlow will work with any standard 1.25' eyepiece and will, as mentioned earlier, double the eyepiece’s magnification by a factor of 2X.

The optics of the 2X Barlow are anti-reflection coated and the edges have been blackened to keep stray light at bay. High Point 1.25” Moon FilterLooking at the Moon through a telescope is a wondrous sight, but if you don’t do something to cut back on the brightness level a bit, you will find yourself stumbling around in the dark long after your eye has left the eyepiece.A simple but very effective solution to “moon blindness” is to attach a neutral density (aka “Moon”) filter to the barrel of your eyepiece. It just takes a few seconds, the filter screws on for a secure fit. Once in place you will still see all the details of the Moon’s many features, but your eyes will be relaxed and you will actually see more than you would with a non-filtered view. It will fit any standard 1.25” eyepiece or Barlow, which means it can be used with the 32 mm Plossl Eyepiece and the 2X Barlow that is part of this kit. Celestron AC Adapter for NexStar SLT TelescopesLast but not least, a great accessory for any motorized or computerized telescope is one that gives you the ability to provide power by an alternate means. The Celestron NexStar SLT telescope comes with an internal battery compartment and accepts user-supplied AA batteries (8 of them). However, Celestron also makes an AC Adapter that plugs into the SLT and a standard AC wall outlet. If you are observing within about 12-feet of a wall outlet, you will appreciate the ability to save your batteries for a time when you are away from AC power!
