I have a Windows 2016 server which is stuck in getting Windows updates.I have moved the server to a test OU and make sure it is not getting any GPO that points it to the internal WSUS server.The server can commmunicate to the the Microsoft Windows update site. I checked the 'Check for update' button, still, there is no progress after waiting for a long time.I hava also use the following to rename the softwaredistribution and the catroot2 folders but same result: net stop wuauserv net stop cryptSvc net stop bits net stop msiserver Ren C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.20190225a Ren C:WindowsSystem32catroot2 Catroot2.20190225a net start wuauserv net start cryptSvc net start bits net start msiserverPlease advise if you know if there is anything else I can try.Thank you very much!!! Thanks, Dave. Sfc /scannow result came out clean. I am not sure what dism does and not comfortable in running it.

As the server has issue for quite a while so I have downloaded 4485477 and 4487006 and install.Question, would you advise what Microsoft web link I should go to and get the latest security files for my Windows 2016, 2012 servers? Just in case if the regular Windows Updates download process is not working, I will need to do this manually.Do you also think my server has some complicate issue that basic functionality like getting Windows Updates is not working?Thanks. I am not sure what dism does and not comfortable in running it.It simply checks and or attempts to repair any servicing corruption.
